TRANSCRIPT OF LETTER
Mbanta (Central Aranda) Tribal Council
Mbanta (Alice Springs)
NOTICE OF REFUSAL TO PERMIT FREEDOM MOVEMENT SA AND OTHERS
TO HOLD MEETING ON ARRANDA LANDS
TAKE NOTICE:
The Lore people and Elders of the Aranda Tribe hereby give NOTICE that we do not consent to the “Freedom Movement SA” nor anyone associated with that entity and or the
Sovereign Union Government holding any meeting/s on Our lands, particularly without Our consent.
This is due to their failure previously to show due respect to the Tribal Lore and Tribes of this area as the Tribal Owners of the lands of the Mbanta (Alice Springs region).
We give Notice that the holding of this meeting is an offense to us as the true and only peoples of this area, and also give Notice that Rosalie Kunoth Monks does not hold authority to speak for, represent nor call meetings for any group upon Our lands without Our consent.
This follows last years’ disrespect of us, Our lore and our place upon Our country by Rosalie, Tauto Sansbury,
Michael Anderson and others associated with the
Sovereign Union Government and the Freedom Movement SA, and the fact that Rosalie Kunoth Monks has previously been told by Our senior Lore people that she is not entitled to speak for nor make decisions in respect of Our country in contravention of Our Lore. Consequently the Whitegate meeting last year was also shut down.
We would remind those involved that there are serious consequences attached to such actions by those who disrespect Our Lore, lands, people and culture. Their ignorance of Our Lore and culture is no excuse for the poor behaviour.
These people have not shown the appropriate respect for us, as the proper people, nor have they sought Our consent to hold any meeting upon Our lands, and, accordingly, we withhold consent for them to hold any such meeting/s in an attempt to make any decisions on or for Our country.
Should the meeting proceed against Our will on Our country, there will be consequences.
We demand that these disrespectful people show the respect due to us that they themselves demand from others.
We have spoken.
Signed by:
Pananga, Kamara and Pultara
